It's been an interesting year for Arthur Vickers

Howdy!

Prior to this morning, I hadn't heard of him either, however because his timing was off when he tried to reclaim a painting he made the news. $60,000 for four paintings means roughtly $15,000 each right? (info from the article) However when he donated a painting to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria he only claimed it as being worth $4,500, so was "Tree Frogs" created in 23- and 24-carat gold only one-third the size? And then last year one of his paintings went for $410,000 at a different charity auction. Then he received an honorary degree (no it isn't relevant, but it is interesting) from the University of Victoria, and he was asked about his most memorable Christmas as well (ditto on the parenthetical comment). If you'd like to see some of his work that goes for in between $4,500 and $410,000 click here or here.

[update October 21: I misread the article, there were three paintings, not four that were sold for $60,000.]
