More movement in the Quebec Art World

Howdy!

Back in October, Bernard Lamarche was named curator of the Musée régional de Rimouski, now according to Le Devoir Gaëtane Verna moves to the Joliette museum now that France Gascon (who used to run the Joliette museum) went to the Bibliotheque Nationale.

Given the musical chairs that have happened here recently, it now seems possible to get some sort of hierarchy of museums, or at least have the basis for a good argument.

When Marcel Brisebois left the Musée d'Art Contemporain Ms. Gascon was named as a possible replacement. However, no matter how hard anyone tries, I refuse to think that Programming Director of a library is anywhere the equivalent of Director of the MACM. Then since it took almost three weeks for the news to get published, and that the original article about Ms. Gascon leaving was only 125 words long I can only come to the conclusion that the Musée d'Art de Joliette has a long way to go. Hopefully Ms. Verna is up to the task.

As the news was reported quicker when Mr. Lamarche moved, and the articles were longer, I would also come to the conclusion that the Musée régional de Rimouski is a couple of notches higher than Joliette. But I also gotta point out that curator of contemporary art is not quick as cool as director. However, if either of them are planning on making any noise in the Art World, I would strongly counsel them to get the heck out of town.

So, now the question is, who goes to Lennoxville?
