Howdy!

They announced the Turner Prize earlier in the week. They also mentioned in passing that it was the 20th anniversary of the prize. How many can you name? How much Google Juice do they get?

Steve McQueen, 1999 - 268,000.
Damien Hirst, 1995 - 95,500.
Richard Long, 1989 - 81,600.
Douglas Gordon, 1996 - 50,600.
Wolfgang Tillmans, 2000 - 40,000.
Anish Kapoor, 1990 - 34,800.
Howard Hodgkin, 1985 - 29,900.
Antony Gormley, 1994 - 29,300.
Tony Cragg, 1988 - 28,100.
Jeremy Deller, 2004 - 25,600.
Richard Deacon, 1987 - 25,100.
Rachel Whiteread, 1993 - 24,500.
Chris Ofili, 1998 - 17,200.
Gillian Wearing, 1997 - 16,100.
Gilbert and George, 1986 - 15,100.
Grayson Perry, 2003 - 12,600.
Martin Creed, 2001 - 9,810.
Malcolm Morley, 1984 - 8,910.
Keith Tyson, 2002 - 6,140.
Grenville Davey, 1992 - 1,190.

For comparison, Zeke's Gallery gets... 17,000. Hmmm.

If I remember correctly, The Turner Prize tosses off £40,000, for "an outstanding exhibition or other presentation." Doesn't that sound suspiciously like the proposed changes in the Canada Council? $50,000 and an exhibition.
