Marc Mayer and Marie Côté get new jobs

Howdy!

Keeping up with who's working where, the Musee d'Art Contemporain finally got around to naming a new director. Mr. Mayer has a not half bad resume:

Art history at McGill
Production department of ARTnews magazine
Assistant to the director of the 49th Parallel Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art
Curator at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo
Head Honcho at the Power Plant
Deputy director for art at the Brooklyn Museum

What I find most interesting is that in the article that Le Devoir published an article about the short list to replace M. Brisebois, Mr. Mayer's name was nowhere in sight. I wonder if Stephane Baillargeon's credibility is going to take a hit.

Looking at the press release the one line that jumps out at me is "Mr. Mayer was also responsible for the Power Plant's breakthrough into the world of prestige sponsorships by such companies as Gucci." I'll leave this with a "no comment" for now.

The second bit of news is that Marie Côté is taking over ArTV. Going by her resume we can expect to see an awful lot of Julie Snyder and Cirque du Soleil on ArTV. Good thing I don't own a television
